Sponsor Some Pixels And Get A Shot At Sponsoring A Race Car!

What is this all about?

I'm sure you've all seen the Million Dollar Home Page, where Alex Tew has sold pixels in order to finance his college education. However, we're going to take that concept and make it even better!

Instead of financing a college education (I already graduated!), we will be using the money we raise on this website to sponsor a car that competes in Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series powered by Ford for 1-2 races during the 2006 season. With the exposure via worldwide television, print, radio, and the web, people will flock to this website and see your ads. Of course, the exposure that this website receives (because of the novelty of it) will also generate much exposure for your pixel ads.

Here is the 2006 Champ Car World Series schedule, with US television information. Races marked with an asterisk are races we are looking to sponsor a car. All races will receive at least one extra airing on the SPEED Channel, and SPEED will also carry ancillary programming to supplement the race coverage. Also, Superstation WGN currently airs a reality series, "Race Car Driver", which focuses on the drivers and teams of the series.

Our goal is to raise $1,000,000 US in order to properly do this. While the going rate for the sponsorship we want is probably about half that, we would also like to donate some of our proceeds to charitable causes. Champ Car is already associated with great causes, such as the Hole In The Wall Gang Camps (a charity of "Cool Hand Luke" Paul Newman, himself a team owner in Champ Car); we would like to donate some proceeds to them, as well as one or two other charities.

How do you plan to do this?

Pixels on Pixel Champ are available in 100 pixel 'squares', with each square measuring 10x10 pixels. You will see that the homepage is divided into 10,000 of these blocks. The reason for selling them in these squares is because anything smaller than that would be too small to display anything meaningful. However, you are welcome to pool with friends, family, or business partners to purchase one or more squares.

Each 10x10 square costs $100, equating to a cost of $1 per pixel. You can buy as many squares as you like, as long as there are some available.

When you purchase a 10x10 square, you earn one chance in a raffle to put your website/company on a car in the Champ Car World Series for the 1-2 races we sponsor. If you purchase additional squares, you will receive an additional chance to win the raffle for each square you buy. With 10,000 squares, your odds of winning are (# squares purchased:10,000) A random drawing will be held at a future date, with the winner receiving the opportunity to sponsor the race car. For a better shot at winning, it's best to buy more squares! However, even if you only spend $100, you still have a shot! It's a very cost-effective way to promote your business!

However, if you do not win the raffle, rest assured that your ads will still be seen, as we will put Pixel Champ's logo and URL (www.pixelchamp.com) in highly visible places on the car. People who see the car in person/TV/print will come to the site and see your ads!

Please read all of the following rules if you are about to buy some pixels. It's important that you follow them.

* The minimum purchase is $100 (100 pixels). However, you are free to purchase more than that if you wish.
* When you 'buy' my pixels, you will not 'own' any part of this site; however, you are granted the right to submit an image and link which will then be published on the homepage in the respective space you have paid for.
* You cannot change the image or link once you have submitted them, so you must be sure of the image and link you want on the homepage, which will be there for at least 3 years. The only exception is if you have a strong reason why you need a change to your image/link(i.e. your site no longer exists, lawsuits, etc.).
* If your image and link are accepted and published on the homepage, NO REFUNDS!
* The site and homepage will be online for at least 3 years (starting from January 1, 2006), so it will run at least until January 1, 2009. However, I'd like it to possibly be even longer!
* No obscene/offensive/adult images/links will be accepted, and I decide what is appropriate. If you submit an image or link that is rejected, you will have the opportunity to provide an alternative. If you don't, your money will be refunded, and you will lose your pixels.
* If your link is accepted, and you later change the content of the linked site to show offensive/obscene/adult material, your link will be removed until you provide a new one. Also, you will NOT get a refund of any kind for the link downtime.
* If for whatever reason in the future, you want your image and link removed from the homepage, you can do so. However, you will NOT get a refund, and the space will become publicly available again.
* Images must be the exact size you have paid for (i.e. 100 pixels = 10x10 pixels).
* Images must be in GIF, JPEG, or PNG format, and they must have a reasonable file size.
* Images must NOT be animated!
* Links must be to web pages only and begin with http://.
* You must have the authority to provide the image and link for the website you submit.
* Funds must be fully recieved and cleared before your pixels go live on the homepage
* There might be occasional downtime for site maintenence, but these will be kept to as minimum a time as possible.
* Once you have ordered, and the funds have cleared, I will aim to get your pixels online within 24-48 hours. However, please be patient, as we're expecting many to order!

I'm sold. I want to buy some pixels!

Now that you know the rules, there are two ways to buy pixels. You may pay with a credit card via PayPal, or you may wish to do a wire transfer. If you wish to pay more than $1500, please do so by wire transfer. E-mail me if you wish to do a wire transfer so that we can set up the details. Once you have paid for your pixels, please e-mail pixels@pixelchamp.com with the following:

1. Your image as a GIF/JPEG/PNG (which must be the correct size for the amount of pixels purchased).
2. State where you want your image (i.e. "10 blocks across, 10 blocks down"). Please be sure, because you CANNOT change it once your image is placed on the site. Also, be sure to get in early! Spots are first come, first serve.
3. State the website you wish to link your image to (i.e. "http://www.pixelchamp.com").
4. State the ALT text you want for your image. ALT text is what people see when they scroll over your image.
