Frequently Asked Questions
Here's some answers to some important questions you might have. If you have a question that's not answered here, please e-mail us, and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
What is the big idea?
The big idea is to sponsor a car in the Champ Car World Series via pixel advertising. By selling 1,000,000 pixels at $1 a pixel, we hope to raise $1,000,000 US. We will then take this money and apply it towards sponsoring a Champ Car for 1-2 races during the 2006 season. We also will hold a random drawing, with the winner getting THEIR business or website as the primary sponsor of the Champ Car for the races we sponsor.
Do you think it's possible?
Anything is possible if you put your mind to it. However, with the worldwide exposure you're to sure to receive at a low cost (it only costs $100 for a 10x10 square), and the opportunity to win a chance to put YOUR business on the sides of a Champ Car, why would you not want to advertise here?
Will my logo actually appear on the car?
If you win the raffle, your company will be the primary sponsor of the car. Just think of the opportunity your business can achieve? However, if you don't win the raffle, see the next question to see that you will still receive exposure for your business.
So, what WILL appear on the car?
We will put the site's logo and URL on the car, with the aim that they will drive people to this site and see your ads.
So when will the car race, and who will drive it?
Right now, we don't know. We're looking to see what teams have sponsorship for 2006, and what teams could use sponsorship. We hope to negotiate something soon. Please see the Buy Pixels page for the 2006 schedule. As for who will drive it, I'm hoping we could have our pick of driver if we bring enough money. I doubt we'll get Paul Tracy, Sebastien Bourdais, or A.J. Allmendinger (they'll likely all have big sponsor $$$ next year), but if we're going to buy someone a ride, let's pick someone with talent.
OK, so how many people will see it?
The 2005 Champ Car Molson "Indy" Montreal scored a Nielsen rating of 1 million households last August on NBC. That means 1 million households turned in to watch a Champ Car race. But don't forget, Champ Car has a good-sized international TV audience! With drivers from all over the world competing in the series, people in places such as France, Germany, and Brazil are expected to visit this website! And don't forget the people who buy tickets to watch a great weekend of action; they'll see your ad as well.
I'm sold. How do I buy some pixels?
Check out our Buy Pixels page to get all the info you need. You can pay with Paypal (Mastercard, Visa, American Express, and Discover are accepted, as are some other cards); if you wish to pay $1500 or more, please e-mail me and we can set up a wire transfer.
How will the money be distributed?
First, we expect it to cost about $500,000 to sponsor 2 races in the Champ Car World Series. After that, we will donate money to various charities, which we will announce here. However, before all that, the IRS will want their cut, so we have to take care of them.
Is this a joke?
I can assure you that this is NOT a joke. As a longtime fan of Champ Car, I'd like to do my part to show my appreciation to the series. If not for the efforts of Kevin Kalkhoven, Gerald Forsythe, and Paul Gentilozzi, us American open-wheel racing fans would be stuck watching "crapwagons" (no thanks to Tony George!).
If it's not a joke, how did you get the idea?
I saw the Million Dollar Home Page, and I wish I had thought of that before. However, instead of financing a college education (I've already graduated!), I decided that this would be a pretty sweet concept to handle. It seemed that everyone who's done it before is just using the money for themselves, but I figured that I should do something that people would want to see.
I bought some pixels, what do I get?
Right now, you only get to advertise pixels. However, we are looking at possibly giving some gifts to the big spenders. Right now, none of that is guaranteed. However, we are researching our options. We're thinking (I stress, we're only THINKING right now) about bumper stickers, T-shirts, etc. Maybe even a contest for tickets to a race where our car competes! Plus, if you win the raffle, you could be the primary sponsor of a Champ Car for 1-2 races just by spending $100 or more!
Again, if you don't see the answer to your question here, please e-mail us, and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
